Qype: Hope & Anchor in London

London - Pubs & Bars - Pubs

This is a half decent pub. The beer garden really makes it (it's huge!). Annoyingly they had no ale on last night so i had to resort to drinking foster. Bleh. The interior of the pub is also very dark and not very well decorated (in my opinion). Nevertheless, staff were very friendly and the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, so i will come back.

Review in one line: Not the best, but not the worst pub on Acre Lane.

Qype: Abbeville Gastropub in London

London - Restaurants - British

Not a bad pub. I only wish i could have stayed and tried some of the food! (The menu looks delicious!). The Abbeville is a bit off the main Clapham drag, but it's well worth the trek. The staff were very friendly at the weekend and it was nice to find a pub in Clapham will all ales on and functioning! The seating area is deceptively large and if you venture through the bar there is a great deal of space for beer swilling and high fiving :)

Heading back this weekend for lunch so i will update this review and tell all about the food!

Qype: Krispy Kreme in Oxford

Oxford - Food & Drink - Bakeries

I'm certain Krispy Kreme doughnuts are fantastically bad for you, but oh man are they good. They gave us some free samples too, so the rumours are true! For doughnut lovers, just try the simple glazed ring. Sugary, delicious and you'll definitely be craving more.

Qype: Cranbrook Rugby Football Club in Cranbrook

Cranbrook - Sport - Sports Clubs

I played for Cranbrook Rugby Club a couple of times when i was at Cranbrook School. The club has decent facilities - pavillion, bar, scrum machines, 2 full size pitches and it also has a great social scene. The rugby played at CRFC is actually very high given the size of the town. This is competitive rugby, not daisy chains and a sunday afternoon throw about.

Definitely worth checking out if you are into playing or watching Rugby in this area of Kent.

Qype: Franco Manca in London

London - Restaurants - Italian & Pizza

Truly fantastic pizza. Believe the Hype, this is the best Pizza in London and it's only going to cost you £5. If you're thinking of hitting up pizza express today or you thought you might wander down to Zizzi's on the high street for a spot of lunch..... DON'T! Get on a tube Brixton and eat some real pizza.

Review in one line: Potentially my last meal on earth.

Qype: Belgo Centraal in London

London - Pubs & Bars - Pubs - Restaurants - Belgian

This was actually my first time in Belgo Centraal. I've been to Bierodrome in Clapham many a time (it's pretty much opposite my house!) and always had great fun, so i was really excited to be visiting Belgo in Covent Garden last night. We had the great pleasure of having Sam, a Belgo Beerologist, spend a good hour and half with us telling stories about the beers we were drinking, which drinks compliment which foods etc. etc. All fascinating stuff. If you're a beer enthusiast, definitely try and spend so time with Sam.

Onto the food a drink....

Starter:

I started with the Aspargus which was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the belgian beer complimented the food really nicely. It almost freshened your mouth after every mouthful preparing you for the next bite.

Main:

I was feeling hungry, so i opted for the Pork Belly main. The portion wasn't enormous, but that didn't matter. It was delicious and by the end of the meal i was FTB. Now, i'm not going to lie to you, the "Grand Cru" beer I had with the pork belly was not really up my alley. I retract my "world ending first sip" comments, but it was really powerful, extremely vinegary (almost like a salad dressing!) and really didn't sit well with me. That being said, many others around the table were guzzling the Cru with great Gusto. So i guess it's just a matter of taste.

Dessert:

Vanilla ice cream with Leffe beer drizzled over the top of it. Awesome! I know! Nuf said really. It was delicious and even though i'm not usually a Fruli drinker, it goes perfectly with a dessert like this.

All in all a fantastic evening. I was disappointed not to be going to Oktoberfest in Munich, but Belgo is definitely the next best thing if you're a beer enthusiast looking for some fun this time of year. Thanks again to Sally and Sam for a cracking evening.
