London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - International - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Pubs
The Anchor & Hope is frequently referred to as one of the best gastropubs in South London. The pub itself is split into 2 sections - casual dining and proper pub. We went last night (Monday) and it was pretty darn busy. I can only imagine how full this place gets at the weekend! After a quick pint of Bombardier in the "proper pub" section we were shown to our table. My brother had the Mutton Curry which he ate with lip smacking gusto, so i can only assume it was excellent. My Cheese and Potato pie was also top notch and the side vegetables were fresh and tasty.
The service throughout was excellent and we felt very well looked after. The waiters have an air of confidence about them and rightly so - They obviously know that the food here is shit hot.
An easy 5 stars and the burning question is..... Do the Anchor & Hope do a Sunday roast? If they do, i will be back at the weekend :)
